Scan to BIM
Scan to BIM
It begins with a point cloud, composed of millions of data points collected through 3D scanning of an existing structure. You or our team must register the point cloud (also called scan matching), which is the process of stitching the individual scans together. This forms the basis for a digital model. We then model the entire building or system to the desired level of detail (LOD). We’re capable of LOD 300 models and lower. Scan to BIM can be utilized as a starting point for redesign & renovation, for spatial coordination, or facility operations.

If you’re an architect or a 3D scanning partner, we’ll turn your point clouds into high quality and useful models. Using these accurate measurements to create models and drawings is crucial to saving time down the road, and can be used to coordinate the designs of other disciplines such as structural and MEP engineers.

Using a provided point cloud, we’ll provide you with the accurate as-built models so you know exactly where structural components exist, and can design and build confidently. Structural models are also extremely useful to MEP partners when designing new systems so they can ensure they avoid clashes in the field.

MEP BIM Modeling
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing models are often missing, but they’re crucial when introducing new MEP systems to an existing building. We’ll use the millions of data points captured through 3D scanning to accurately model existing MEP systems to help coordinate renovation, remodeling, or system upgrade efforts. The end result is a Revit model that shows exactly where current systems are, so that you can be sure to avoid clashes in the field.
